In August 2006 Lisa Connell from North London was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. Nobody knows if she has years or months to live. Since her diagnosis Lisa has made it her personal goal to create awareness of brain tumours worldwide. Lisa has been working very closely with several Brain Tumour Charities to raise funds for the cause and in July 2007 ran the Great British 10k London run raising over £3,500.00 for Brain Tumour UK after being told she may never walk again!
The idea for Rent A Date For Charity came about after Lisa decided to offered the chance for people to win a date with her and her cousin through her MySpace page. The rules were quite simple – the person who donated the most amount of money into the justgiving account in one week would win a date with either one of them. The idea soon evolved into Rent A Date For Charity.
There are several
ways you can help raise funds on our auctions see below a
list of ideas:
You can enter yourself on the auctions as a
"Date Candidate" offering a chance for potential
bidders to win a date with you.
You can BID on potential "Dates Candidates".
Why not auction off a prize? You can auction
almost anything you want on the site. Some ideas include,
tickets to shows, Meal for two, Weekend Spa Breaks, VIP back
stage passes to gigs, events, or shows. The possibilities

Why not introduce a Celebrity to the auctions?
By introducing a Celebrity to the auctions you will be helping
to raise funds for your and/or the Celebrities chosen charity.
This can be any charity you so wish to choose. By introducing
a new charity to the site you will be aiding them with more
advertising tools and help them to raise more funds for their
cause. 75% of the NET Bids in the case of a Celebrity Auction
will go to their designated charity. The remaining 25% will
go towards the overall profits that the Brain Tumour Charities

Don’t fancy going up as a date? No problem!
This site is used to create awareness and funding for Brain
Tumours and assist other charities to raise money too. If
you don’t fancy putting yourself up for auction as a "Date
Candidate" then why not offer something else in return?
A coffee perhaps? A chance to network with other members and
discuss business or fundraising opportunities? When signing
up for the auctions simply choose the "Everything Else"
category and list your auction item/event in the description.
Other ways you can help would
be to sponsor a banner on our site. Our costs are very competitive.

DVD - APPEAL
Dear Sir/Madam,
My Name Is Peter Georgi. I
want to make a documentary following Lisa Connell through
the next six to nine months.
This documentary will tell
the story of her illness and her new business venture www.RentADateForCharity.com
which aims to raise both awareness and funding for Brain Tumour
Charities and others through an online auction dating site.
Lisa’s two worlds are in contrast
with each other and through them we will tell a moving and
ultimately uplifting story that can act as a beacon of hope
for people in the same situation. We are trying to raise funding
to make an hour long documentary that can be given to UK and
International Charities as an awareness tool.
This film will follow Lisa
through her treatment interviewing her doctors and surgeons
at the same time. Through them we will come to understand
the nature of the disease and through Lisa we will understand
what it is like to be this ill and how best to make the most
of the rest of your life.
Sadly, Lisa's story is not
unique, Thousands of people are diagnosed with Brain Tumours
in the world each year, yet there is very little information
for them on how to cope in these situations. This film, should
it get made, will do two things: help people in the same situation
and raise awareness and money for the charities and clinical
researchers that are trying to find a cure.

are know of any one able to help fund this project then please
get in touch as soon as possible as Lisa is at a critical
time both in her treatments and career therefore we are looking
for funding almost immediately. Lisa starts her Radiotherapy
on the 1st July and we were hoping to have something in place
by then.
